A combination of pineapple juice and turmeric-ginger tea combination might sound like an odd bunch but it did wonders for my cold. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which aids in digestion and lowers inflammation. Turmeric (Curcumin) and ginger are anti-inflammatory, and I added some fresh lemon for a boost of Vitamin C.
I have seen recipes of smoothies using these three ingredients but as I was in no mood to sip something cold I opted to make a tea using these ingredients. The result is a warming tea loaded with anti-inflammatory ingredients like Turmeric to help boost the immune system.
1. 1 cup organic pineapple juice
2. 1 cup water
3. 2 tsp Turmeric Teas Winter blend (Ginger, Cinnamon, Turmeric, Cloves and Black pepper)
4. 2 slices of lemon
Bring water, pineapple juice and tea blend to a boil, lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Strain in two cups and garnish with a slice of Lemon.
Note: You can always make this recipe with fresh ginger and turmeric too if you have them handy.
